Your Public Health Labratory Requires a Robust LIMS
Public Health Laboratories (PHL) are a multi-disciplinary, integrated source of diagnostic services including analytical support and consultation for physicians, private laboratories, hospitals, and county health departments. Public Health Laboratories collaborate with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). They serve as the backbone of the national Laboratory Response Network (LDN) facilitated by the CDC. Public Health Laboratories also partner with the World Health Organization (WHO) and other international entities. Given the interdisciplinary nature of these laboratories performing everything from clinical and newborn screening to drug and alcohol testing to biothreat and special pathogen to environmental testing, the LIMS requirements are extremely robust and critical to their performance. The LIMS must be multifaceted and flexible combining clinical and environmental testing yet apply all the critical quality control required while conforming to various regulations and mandates.
Very few LIMS can handle patient-centric sample log in such as mandated by the clinical side of the laboratory to comply with HIPAA as well as group or batch-centric sample log in as required by the environmental side of the laboratory. HORIZON can. HORIZON offers one of the few LIMS capable of performing for the whole laboratory and not just various sections. We are proud to work with many PHLs throughout the country.
